School Projects

Comenius Assistantships: Schools who would like to host an Assistant from another European country are encouraged to contact Léargas. The benefits for the schools can be manifold - a heightened interest in language and culture, additional language provision and assistance in the teaching of other subjects, assistance with Comenius projects etc. Assistants can teach in the school for 12-16 hours per week and can stay for a period of 13-45 weeks. Assistants receive a grant from their own country so there is no financial cost for the school.

Application forms can be downloaded from the Leargas website and the closing date for applications is usually in January for the following academic year.

Penpal Exchanges: Many schools exchange letters and emails with schools around the world as part of their modern language class. It is awarded annually to a limited number of projects in each EU member state. Successful projects will be recognised in a number of ways including cash prizes. Small and large scale projects are welcome to apply.
Examples of winning projects can be found on the Léargas website -
The deadline for applications is usually in March.
